Chapter 1-6:The infection of hepatitis B is serious in Middle East and Near East

Now the people infected by hepatitis B are about 300 million. And the total infection of hepatitis B and hepatitis C is over 500 million. Especially in Middle East, the infection rate is staying high.

The countries with a moderate infection rate are Iraq and UAE, while the high infection rate is spreading in Egypt, Jordan, Yemen, Pakistan, Oman and Saudi Arabia etc.

In Japan, 1-2% of population carry hepatitis B virus. The main route of infection is Mother-to-child transmission. From 1986 on, the baby of female virus carrier is to be injected vaccine, which almost blocks new infection. In the test result of high school students in 2000, the carriers of hepatitis B virus is less than 0.2%. There is almost no carrier at age under 15.
