Not only Japan, US is also laden on the risk of liver disease. US who has large quantity of obesity, is facing gradual larger NASH patients group. But compared with NASH, the increase of hepatitis c infectors’ quantity is the most difficulty in liver treatment in US.
The number of people who infected by hepatitis c is accounting for 1.4% of total population in US (about 3.9 million). Every year about 25,000 patient die of chronic liver disease, 40% of them are caused by hepatitis c. In all of the liver disease, when the disease develops into the advanced stage, most people who have to do liver transplant is hepatitis c patients.

Hepatitis C is most commonly spread by blood transfusion, although the ratio of people who are infected by blood transfusion is lower after 1994. It is still difficult to control other methods of infection. For example, reusing the syringe in drug abuse, so 80% people who inject toxin above 5 years will be infected by hepatitis c. It is easy to develop from hepatitis to liver cirrhosis and liver cancer for those who have drug abuse for long time as weak physical function.

The cost of treating chronic liver dysfunction of hepatitis c, and the labor loss as being incapable of work is a large figure.
